6月20日晚上，Tom先生在繁忙的访问行程中抽出时间与华中科技大学OSA学生分会的同学们进行了交流，交流会由OSA学生分会主席刘为为同学主持。首先，刘为为同学向Tom先生介绍了华中科技大学OSA学生分会(HUST Optoelectronics)自2004年成立以来的相关情况和今后的发展规划。然后，Tom先生向OSA学生分会会员们介绍了OSA的发展历程、国际影响及其在推动世界光学光电子产业发展所起的重要作用。同时，Tom先生对2015国际光年的相关情况向同学们做了介绍，并欢迎大家积极参与到相关的活动中去。最后，参加交流会的同学就OSA及光电产业等方面的问题与Tom先生进行了深入交流。

June 18-21, Tom Hausken from the Optical Society of America (OSA) visited Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics (WNLO) and attended the 7th International Photonics and Optoelectronics Meetings (POEM 2014). On the night of 20th, Mr. Hausken had a communication with the OSA Student Chapter members of HUST. On the communication, he introduced the development process of OSA in detail, which made the members understand the great international influence of OSA. At the same time, OSA has played an important role in stimulating the development of the world's optical and optoelectronic industries. Mr. Hausken also gave a brief introduction to the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies which would be held in 2015.
